Međugorje

Međugorje

Medjugorje is a small village, located in the southern part of Bosnia and Herzegovina. It used to be an ordinary village with only one church.

The inhabitants have been working in the field and in vineyards planting tobacco and various fruits and vegetables in order to provide food for their families, until the June 24th 1981st when an unusual event occurred, according to children. Some children claimed that they had seen the bright light and a woman with a child in her hand asking them to come closer. Of course, nobody believed them, but the children went to that place the day after and saw the figure of Our Lady again and continued to pray with.  Soon the place was flooded by visitors who also wanted to pray and to see Our Lady.

Today, Medjugorje has become one of the most famous Catholic shrines in the world, visited by a large number of pilgrims finding peace here.
